How
to measure ring metals
Ring
Capacity
Measure the inside diameter of rings as shown below, not width of spine.
Ask your representative for assistance in determining ring size.
Ring
Spacing
A = Center to center
B = Outside centers
Sum of A's should = B
Hint:
Rather than trying ot find the center of rings, measure from one side
of the 1st ring to the same side of the next ring.

Printing
Ideal when 4 color
process graphics are requested on jobs less than 2,000 pieces. No need
for expensive film, proofs and plates required on offset printed jobs.
Pantone colors must be converted to process equivalents. Typically laminated
with gloss film for durability.
Offset
Printing
Conventional way to
print 4 to 6 colors in higher quantities. 4 color process most common
for photographic look. Requires color separated, right reading, emulsion
side down film negatives and a color proof. If art supplied on disk, film
and proof charges will be added. Typically laminated with gloss film for
durability.
Screen
Printing
Ideal for 1 or more
Pantone colors required in moderate quantites (100 to 3,000) Ink is pushed
through a stenciled mesh screen onto cover material. Decorating process
can be used on wide variety of cover materials.
Foil
Stamping
Ideal for small quantity
single color jobs or when metallic graphics are required. Foil is transferred
to material with a heated die. Die costs quoted separately based on square
inches of coverage.
Deboss
/ Emboss
Dies and pressure
used to create depressed – debossed, or elevated – embossed image.
Embossing requires a set of male / female dies and is much more costly and far
less common than debossing.
Personalizations
Usually done using
heated 18 pt loose type to transfer foil to material. Dies not required.
Also can be done economically when digitally printing.
Many
of these graphic techniques can be combined for stunning visual affects.
